Aaron Goodyke is an organist, music educator, and collaborative artist from West Michigan. He graduated from Hope College Summa Cum Laude (inducted into Phi Beta Kappa) with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education with an emphasis in organ studies. He grew up in the Holland/Zeeland area, participating a variety of musical and fine arts activities throughout high school. Aaron began his organ study with Nancy Mulder and later studied with Dr. Huw Lewis FRCO at Hope College. He has studied voice with Nicholas Loren. While at Hope, Aaron served in many leadership roles within campus governance, student life, campus ministries, and various academic departments, in addition to his performances, accompanying, and other music-related gigs. 

Aaron is active in exploring technology integration in the music classroom. In the spring of 2015, he received a grant from the National Association for Music Merchants to attend the Music Technology Leadership Academy hosted by Technology in Music Education (TI:ME) in San Antonio, Texas, where he collaborated with other educators nationwide on the topic of engaging the 'non-traditional' music student through technology. He completed his student teaching in the fall of 2016 at West Ottawa High School and Woodside Elementary under the mentorship of Pam Pierson and Lee Ann Jones. In the spring of 2017, Aaron received recognition from the Network of Michigan Educators and the Michigan Department of Education for being a "Teacher of Promise".

An active leader of worship, Aaron is drawn to church music, serving at First Presbyterian Church of Holland as organist, accompanist, and handbell choir director. For 3 years since it’s inception in 2016, he assisted in the annual Awakening Institute at Hope College, a gathering of high school students from churches and schools across the United States that focuses on the intersection of theology, worship, and the arts. While fulfilling his duties as intern, he assisted the director with administering the event, in addition to serving on the staff for keyboard studies. During this time, he served as Intern and later Production Coordinator on the Board of Directors at the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck(CMFS).

Aaron has performed in several churches and venues throughout West Michigan, most recently being the “Second Series” at Second Reformed Church, the Young Organist Series in Grand Rapids, the Pillar Church Noon Concert series, and the Tulip Time Organ recitals at Dimnent Chapel. He is a dual member of the Holland and Grand Rapids Chapters of the American Guild of Organists and has experience serving on the board while a student at Hope College. He currently serves as an instructor for the Summer Organ Encounter for the Holland and Grand Rapids AGO chapters, which aims to invite young teenagers and beginning keyboardists to study the organ.

Aaron concluded seven years as the Middle School Choir Director at Caledonia Community Schools, where he directed six choirs grades 6-8, assisted with the Caledonia Theatre Guild programming (CKT, CMSP, CHSP, & CCP), and was Secretary for the Caledonia Education Association.

Aaron is in his first year leading the choir program at Byron Center West Middle School. In addition, he serves as Co-Director of Music at Second Reformed Church where he and his wife Kristin coordinate a rich music program and the Second Recital Series. Recently, he served as guest director for the Holland Chorale, MSVMA 6-7-8-9 SSA State Honors Choir Coordinator, Sub-Dean for the Holland American Guild of Organists, founding board member for the Holland Bach Society, and accompanist for various students in Statewide MSBOA & MSVMA events.

Outside of school/rehearsal, Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife Kristin, reading, watching movies, and playing a good game of cribbage.
